
Gula Melaka Banana Cake with Walnuts
Rich, moist, and full of local flavour, this banana cake is sweetened with fragrant gula melaka and made extra buttery with Buttercup Luxury Spread. Mashed bananas and chopped walnuts add texture and depth, while a sprinkle of shaved gula melaka and banana slices on top make it irresistibly festive. Perfect for celebrations or teatime indulgence.

Directions
- Preheat oven to 170°C.
- Grease and line a 7-inch square cake pan with baking paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the Buttercup Luxury Spread and shaved gula melaka until light and fluffy.
- Add vanilla extract and mix well.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.
- Stir in the sifted self-raising flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined.
- Fold in the mashed bananas and chopped walnuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Optionally, top with banana slices, walnuts, and shaved gula melaka.
- Bake for 50–55 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool completely in the pan before removing and slicing.
