Homemade Churros

Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and dusted with just the right amount of cinnamon sugar. Loved by kids, grandparents, and everyone in between, these homemade churros are a crowd-pleaser. Easy to make and even more fun to dip, they’re a sweet way to bring everyone together for a treat that’s best shared warm.

Ingredients


Ingredients (Makes about 18 churros)

Dough:

  • 56g

    Buttercup Luxury Spread, diced

  • 250ml

    water

  • 15g

    granulated sugar

  • ¼ tsp

    salt

  • 145g

    all-purpose flour

  • 1

    large egg

  • ½ tsp

    vanilla extract

  • Vegetable oil, for frying

For Coating:

  • 90g

    granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp

    ground cinnamon

Directions


  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together the sugar and cinnamon for coating. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1½ inches of vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat to 180°C. Reduce the heat as necessary to maintain this temperature.
  3. In a large saucepan, bring the water, Buttercup Luxury Spread, sugar, and salt to a boil over medium-high heat.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium-low, add the flour, and stir constantly with a rubber spatula until the mixture is smooth and forms a dough.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a large mixing bowl and let it cool for 5 minutes.
